As a mom juggling three kids and nonstop cooking, I needed a cutting board that could actually survive the chaos, not just look good on the website. So when I found an Ad for this on a sleek website, I was tempted.

Spoiler alert: this was a terrible purchase.

For busy families, these features sound like a dream come true.

Features listed;

  • Prevents risk from microplastics
  • Resists bacteria and odors
  • Keeps your knives sharp
  • Eliminates food cross-contamination

Now, though Titanium is considered safe for food contact, which is why you’ll see it used in cookware and medical equipment, it doesn’t mean it’s automatically the best option for your kitchen.

My experience using this titanium Cutting Board

My order from katuchef.com took almost three weeks to arrive. When it did arrive, first thing I noticed was that it was unbranded. The name ‘KatuChef’ wasn’t written anywhere on its body. It rather says ‘Made in China’.

But I wanted to give it a fair shot.

I decided to test it on various items; beef, strawberry, and cucumber.

First, I tried it with beef.
Slicing through raw beef was fine at first, though I noticed a couple of faint scratches on the board as soon as I was done. Nothing dramatic, so I brushed it off.

Next up: strawberries and cucumbers.
The surface felt a little too slick for my liking. As I ran the knife through the soft strawberries, it almost skidded a couple of times, and the cucumber didn’t feel much better. A few more light marks showed up on the board. That’s when I started paying closer attention.

Then came garlic and cabbage.
Pressing down on a garlic clove with the flat of my knife left an obvious scratch — way more noticeable than with the beef. Chopping cabbage was even worse. The coarse leaves dragged strangely against the board, and my knife felt like it was slipping slightly on the hard surface. More visible scratches appeared.

Finally, tomatoes.
I expected these soft, juicy slices to be a breeze, but cutting them felt off. The board’s surface made my knife edge skip here and there. By the third slice, I noticed not just marks on the board but also realized my favorite kitchen knife wasn’t cutting as sharply as it did the day before. Turns out, titanium might be durable — but it’s no friend to your kitchen blades.

By the time I finished that simple salad, I was in regrets.

Is the Katuchef Cutting Board a Scam?

From my experience and that of others on TrustPilot, it’s a scam as that doesn’t deliver on their promise. After first or second use it ended up with unsightly scratches which ruins the smooth aesthetic I was aiming for.

Now the pricing is another deceptive marketing.

The folks which are basically dropshippers have the nerve to slap a $119 “original price” tag on this single titanium chopping board. Then, with a straight face, they offer a “limited-time 70% off” deal for $30+ like they’re doing us all a huge favor.

But they actually bought the titanium cutting boards on a wholesale deal lesser than $15 per board.

It’s the kind of greedy upselling tactic I can’t stand — tricking people into believing they’re getting a premium, rare kitchen tool when it’s really just another overhyped, mass-produced board with a fancy website and inflated price tag.

Better Alternatives on Amazon

If you want a cutting board that works, here’s what actually makes sense:

Bamboo Cutting Boards – My personal favorite. Ever noticed what your local butcher or deli uses?

I got this one off Amazon. A set of 3 that costs $36.99. They’re affordable, easy to sanitize, and built to handle heavy use. They also have a groove to catch liquid.

They’re naturally antimicrobial, lightweight, and kind to your knives. Plus, they look gorgeous on the counter. Bamboo also absorbs less liquid than other woods, making it more hygienic. They can also serve for hosting boards. I used mine to host some guests on Thanksgiving.

Meanwhile, if you’re still keen on getting a titanium cutting board due to the aesthetics. There’s one for you. I got a 2 in 1 Double Sided Titanium Cutting Board & Bamboo Food Serving Charcuterie Cheese Board with Compartments off Amazon.com. Here’s what it looks like;

I’m off to have a look around Amazon – they might not be perfect but my experience is that if a product bought there does not do what it purports to do refund is almost automatic.     I was skeptical whem seeing a Similar ad on YouTube

    So I looked it up to see if it was even true of such and sure there it was

    However I was not impressed…so then come across Your Review and I am Happy to Not fall for the Hype

    Now I do believe “Cross Contamination” is something to be concerned about along with Micro Plastics is disturbingly scary with all the Junk in this Beautiful precious World… I do Collect a lot of Trash and Litter as much as I can where ever I go

    Unfortunately I am Only 1 Of Me to fulfill a World full of Plastics and MicroPlastics

    So an Alternative to creating more Micro Plastics the Better…hence Bamboo looks good to Go

    I do have a few Bamboo shirts are Nice…I Need More of this Textiles …so comfortable

  3. I bought 4 – 1 for me and 3 as gifts. There was no indication of brand, manufacturer, etc. on neither them nor the packaging. The handle area was very rough (safety hazard) and if stored standing on edge, I was afraid of marks on my counter top.
    Also, a quote per their website:
    “What really impressed me was the included care guide with tips to make sure the board remains in pristine condition for years. It showed the makers’ genuine commitment to longevity and user experience.” Guess what I didn’t receive – not even one!
    I called for a refund, but because I couldn’t find the original plastic shipping sleeve, my refund was only 25% – but I could keep them. And if I had the original packaging I’d have to pay the return shipping (heavy), which for 4 would have been HUGE. After reading more evaluations from others, I’m afraid to use them and will discard. Lesson learned!

  5. I wish I had read this BEFORE ordering the KatuChef board. It took several weeks to arrive. It had a plastic coating that was difficult to remove. No logo on the board and it already had a scratch. I washed it, and it had water marks that you could barely buff off. And every time you touch it, it left finger prints. When I contacted customer service, they said I could return the unused, undamaged product in it’s original packaging. They offered 25% refund, then 50% and finally 75%. The site says under FAQs that if it’s not the best cutting board YOU HAVE EVER USED, you can return – no questions asked. SCAM for sure!
