Should you buy the Climafy Split Max AC? If you’ve seen ads online about this portable air conditioner and you’re tempted to place an order, I’d advise not to do so. As a stay at home mom battling summer heat, I fell for the Ad and bought one off climafypro.com.
Spoiler alert: It was a terrible purchase.

About the Climafy Air Conditioner
The Climafy Air Conditioner is advertised as a Ductless Split Max AC — supposedly a compact, easy-to-install, wall-mounted air conditioner that requires no ducts, no outdoor unit, and promises to cool down your home in minutes. It’s been making the rounds on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, typically targeting tired, heat-stricken parents like yours truly.
My experience using Climafy Split Max AC
It arrived in one of those flimsy cardboard boxes from Shenzhen, China (red flag number one) about two and a half weeks later. No brand markings on the box — just a generic “home appliance” label.
The “installation” was essentially me mounting it with two screws onto my bedroom wall. It did turn on, and it did blow air — I’ll give it that. But was it cold? Absolutely not.
At best, it was like a weak desk fan you get at a dollar store, but with a slightly fancier casing. It had three speed settings, and even on the highest, it was nowhere near what you’d expect from a product calling itself an “air conditioner”.
There was no cooling coil. No refrigerant. No condenser.
Just a fan blade behind a plastic grille, spinning sadly, pushing room-temperature air straight into my disappointed face.
I even tried adding ice packs behind it like one of those sketchy YouTube hacks suggested — no dice. If anything, it made the thing leak water down my wall.
Can It actually cool a room?
Well, from my experience, it only cools a small area surrounding it not the entire room. I think you’d need up to four of it to cool a normal sized room. So if you just need an air cooler for your workstation, it could serve the purpose not for an entire room.
Is Climafy AC Scam?
Honestly… yes.
It’s a classic bait-and-switch. The product capitalizes on the ductless split keyword and visual similarity to mini-split AC units, but it’s just a wall-mounted fan pretending to be one.
It’s one thing to buy a fan. It’s another to be sold one disguised as an air conditioner for five times the price.
The real kicker? I later found the exact same unit (same body, same remote, same cheap fan speed settings) on AliExpress and Amazon.com
Pros
- Sleek, modern-looking design (if you care about aesthetics)
- Easy to mount on the wall
- Remote control included
Cons
- Not a real air conditioner
- Doesn’t lower room temperature
- Weak fan speed
- No cooling technology inside — just a fan blade
- Found identical versions online for a fraction of the price
Alternatives
After digging on Amazon.com, I found these portable air coolers that actually do impressive room cooling;
- 4-IN-1 Portable AC Unit with 3 Wind Speeds, 3 Spray Mode, 7 Night Light
- BLACK+DECKER Desktop Air Cooler
- Dual Motor Evaporative Air Cooler with 3 Speeds & 3 Mist, 7 Color Night Light Cooling Fan
Final Verdict
Just like the Glacier Breeze AC, the Climafy Air Conditioner is a textbook example of online impulse shopping regret.
It’s not an air conditioner, it’s a wall-mounted fan in disguise. Slick ads, fake reviews, and strategic wording roped me in — but after one hot, sticky night with it blowing lukewarm air at my face, I knew I’d been had.
If you’ve been eyeing this thing, do yourself (and your wallet) a favor — skip it.
Anyone with just a basic understanding of physics would have understood this. What they advertise is impossible: the heat needs to go somewhere !! The laws of thermodynamics still hold AFAIK.
thank you for your review. my wife was just ordering 2 of them for my daughter, saved by your investigation
To amplify what Michiel said so that people understand the physics better, no air conditioner *produces* cold air which is why the Climafy can’t work as advertised. An air conditioner merely creates a temperature difference between the hot side (condenser) and the cold side (evaporator). You have to have the hot side outside where it can dump the heat, and the cold side inside for the cool. And so air conditioners work better (you get cooler air) when it’s cooler outside. And that’s why you can’t put an air conditioner in the middle of a room and expect it to cool the room (yes, I’ve seen people do this). And that’s why you can’t cool a room by leaving the refrigerator door open. If you do, you’ll be *adding* to the temperature of the room by the amount of power the air conditioner uses.
This has got to be the biggest scam on the internet, it does not cool even a 200sqft room, it cost about 3/4 of the cost just to ship back to get your money back. Trump should make the tariffs 99% for china for ever, allowing companies to scam the people.
I too ordered it off of Facebook, paid $159.99, shocked when I took it out of the flimsy box. Cheap, and looking at it I realized it is a glorified space heater, that has no ability to cool a room, just as well have a ceiling fan. I went to their website which states they have a 60-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked, no hassle. Well that is a lie, they have refused to send me a return label, stating it was part of a final sale and not eligible for return or refund. I purchased min on August 27, 2025. Credit card states I didn’t show them enough information to block payment. My stomach had been tied up in knots but after reading your review and paying 3/4 of the cost to ship it back, I need to just accept the fact that I got scammed. Lesson learned.
DONT BUY IT IT SUCKS NOW THEY ARE GIVING ME A HARD TIME THEY WANT WANT PICTURES
Hi Louis,
I am having the same issue, telling me the website was clearly marked a promotional final sale when it wasn’t. I have sent photos and screenshots disproving this and still getting the runaround. And their website says hassle free returns.
I PURCHSED 3 AND ALL 3 DID NOT WORK. THEY SAID 100% SATISFACTION OR YOUR MONEY BACK THEN REFUSED TO TAKE THEM BACK. WE NEED A CLASS ACTION LAWSUITR ON THIS DEAL. WHERE ARE OUR POLITITIONS PROTECTING US AGAINST SCAMMERS IN THEIR FACES!
I am like all the other writers here who responded. I, too, fell for the FB advertisement and sent for one of the “air conditioners,” I live in a small apartment that has no other actual air conditioner. I have used fans in the window to make it through this brutal summer in upstate New York.
The product arrived many, many weeks after I placed the order. Imagine my excitement: I was about to experience a cool apartment. NOT. The unit is nothing more than a fan that blows air the temperature of the ambient air in the room.
I immediately repackaged the product and sealed it up to return. I sent an email to the address listed on the card that came with the product: info@climafypro.com. No response. I sent a second email a week later. No response.
I feel ripped off. I feel like a fool for falling for this scam. I am out nearly $200 with no hope of returning the product let alone getting a refund. Oh, and yes, I am very angry.
I don’t know what to do. Contacting the New York State Attorney General’s Office of Consumer Protection has, in the past, proven equally pointless.
I would gladly join in a class action lawsuit: this is an international scheme, just another example of how some (most?) Chinese businesses are playing us like a fiddle.
I was skeptical but it was priced at $159 so I thought I’d give it a chance. Don’t waste your money. I bought a similar item to heat a bathroom for $59 and they are almost identical. It doesn’t cool, but will heat, They replied to my complaint and said I cannot get a refund because it was an older model on sale. NOT True. Anyhow, lesson learned
We fell for their advertising too and once I realized (which was right away) that this product was junk and a scam, I tried to do a return. Their “no hassle” return policy is absolute garbage. I followed their instructions and first they requested a video. HUH??? But, Okay, I did a video. Then I got an email thanking me for my video, and stating that they are sorry that I’m disappointed (major understatement), but unfortunately these units were “final sale” no refund or return is possible. Even though nothing was ever presented or marked as “final sale”. Gee, I bet ALL of their sales somehow turn into “final sales”. RUN from Climafy!!!!!!!!!
I totally agree with all your comments. Being here in Hawaii I was also skeptic
about this and was hoping for some kind of miracle and hoping it would cool just a little.
It arrived 3 weeks later and after finding out it is just a weak fan, I packed it back up and contacted
them for a return and refund. They replied with the same excuse of it not being returnable because
it was a close out item which they did not state at all. Now they make it difficult to contact them at info@climafypro.com. Thay are truly a SCAM. I wish there was a class action lawsuit against them or a popular website to expose them.
I was misled by the SELLER-ClimaFy into purchasing a product ClimaFY Split Max, advertised as a high-performance Portable Air Conditioner. The device is merely a low-cost cooling fan & heater, a fraudulent misrepresentation of the product. The SELLER is refusing a REFUND, and I wish to dispute the charge $159.99 plus special packaging $4.99, total $164.98 due to “product not as described or fraudulent advertisement” which invalidates any FINAL SALE CLAIM by the SELLER. It was shipped from 5215 S Boyle Avenue, Vernon CA 90058(label in the plastic packaging)
They are a scam company, need a lawyer to file a class action. They tell me this was a “all sales final” that was never said when ordering. It’s a heater only per the instruction manual included in the box. They know it and are selling these things all over including Amazon. Not a real company!!!
DITTO TO ALL THE COMPLAINTS… AND THE ONLY RESPONSE FROM COMPANY WAS “IT WAS A FINAL SALE ITEM” WHEN IT CLEARLY SAYS IT IS SATISFACTION GUARANTEE AND NEVER SIAD FINAL SALE. I AM DISPUTING THIS WITH MY CREDIT CARD COMPANY AND WOULD SUGGEST ANYONE WHO IS GETTING THE RUN AROUND DO THE SAME. CLEARLY THIS IS A SCAM, FALSE ADVERTISING AND LITTLE MORE THAN A WEAK FAN AT BEST. HOPEFULLY REVIEWS LIKE THIS WILL SAVE OTHERS FROM PURCHASING THIS PRODUCT.
I disputed it my credit card company and even though I sent them copy of their ad and copy of their refusal of allowing me to mail it back and get a refund. I lost my dispute, I was shocked and terribly disappointed, I decided I need to let it go before I get ulcers. I sent those yesterday and they replied back yesterday.
This Product Sucks. I purchased mine on Aug. 6, 2025, received it on Aug. 26, 2025. I plugged it in like the advertisement and it barely blew only warm air and nothing else. The air it blew I could only feel with my hand at about 2 inches away and no further. I emailed them for a return/refund as the website states, and they informed me (even though the suppose sale price is still the same today) that the purchase was a sale item and that all sales are final therefore, I do not qualify to be able to return it or for a refund. So, I am as many others that I have now noticed out the air conditioning unit and the $165.00 which as a senior citizen on a budget is a lot of money.
THIS COMPANY IS NO MARE than a rip off, taking innocent people’s money and profiting off of it by selling a pile of crap and never refunding the money.
