Is Froya Organics a fad? I’m in my early 30s, but after three pregnancies, constant sleep deprivation, and the usual chaos of raising tiny humans, my skin has been looking rough. Dry patches, fine lines creeping in, and a dull, uneven texture.
So when I stumbled across Froya Organics Nordic-sourced, mature skin-focused ads, I decided to give it a try. I ordered their Mature Skin System and here’s everything you need to know before you think about doing the same.
About Froya Organics
Froya Organics is a Norwegian skincare brand founded by a man named Tobias Nervik, who created it after battling skin issues most of his life. The company prides itself on using Arctic plants like cloudberry and bilberry to craft small-batch, natural products targeting mature and aging skin.
But here’s the sad part— they are not available on Amazon.com, and if you live outside of Europe or the US, shipping takes forever.

My experience using Froya Organics Mature Skin System
The Mature Skin System includes a day balm, night balm, eye balm, and a face scrub. Right off the bat, the balms were thick — like rub-between-your-palms-to-melt-it kind of thick. And the herbal scent? Intense. Think old apothecary mixed with forest floor.
Application & Texture
Each balm needs to be warmed up between your fingers before applying. Not ideal when you’ve got a baby wailing and dinner burning on the stove. Once applied, the balms felt greasy and sat on top of my skin for what felt like hours. The day balm made my face look like a glazed donut by noon, and the night balm was so rich it left grease marks on my pillowcase.
The face scrub was the only product I mildly enjoyed. It had a nice grit and left my skin feeling soft without irritation.

Results After Two Weeks
I stuck with it for two full weeks. My skin did feel more hydrated — but not in a good way. It was too heavy for my combo skin, and I noticed small clogged pores popping up on my chin and forehead. The strong fragrance also lingered, which gave me a headache at bedtime.
By week two, I swapped back to my usual lightweight routine. No major anti-aging benefits to report, and honestly, my skin looked duller by the end of the trial.
Customer Service & Returns
This was another pain point. Their return policy only covers unopened, unused products within 14 days of receiving them. So if you’ve tried them and realized they’re not for you — tough luck.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Natural, plant-based ingredients sourced from Arctic regions
- Simple, clean packaging
- Face scrub was gentle and pleasant
Cons:
- Thick, greasy texture that clogged my pores
- Strong, lingering herbal fragrance
- Tedious application process (you need to warm the balms first)
- Not available on Amazon.com
Froya Organics vs. Norse Organics — Which One’s Better?
Since I’ve previously reviewed Norse Organics (remember that one?), I thought it’d be fun to put these two head-to-head. Here’s how they stack up:
| Feature | Frøya Organics | Norse Organics |
|---|---|---|
| Target Audience | Mature, aging skin | Acne-prone, sensitive skin |
| Product Texture | Thick, greasy balms | Lightweight, non-greasy formulas |
| Fragrance | Strong, herbal | Mild, clean, natural scent |
| Application Process | Requires warming between fingers | Quick, fuss-free application |
| Skin Reaction | Can cause clogged pores and minor breakouts | Calms redness and helps with acne |
| Customer Service | Slow, restrictive return policy | Responsive, decent return options |
| Availability | Official website only | Official website only |
| Price Point | High-end pricing | Mid-range pricing |
| Overall Results | Hydrating but heavy, no anti-aging improvements | Effective for calming, clearing, and improving texture |
Better Alternatives on Amazon (That Actually Work)
If you’re looking for skincare products that are gentle, effective, and won’t leave you with greasy pillowcases, these are my personal Amazon-approved alternatives:
- Weleda Skin Food Original Ultra-Rich Cream — Thick and hydrating, but somehow non-greasy and perfect for dry patches.
- Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum — Brightens and firms without irritation. My go-to serum.
- CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream — Affordable, fragrance-free, and loaded with ceramides to repair your skin barrier overnight.
Final Verdict
Would I buy Froya Organics again? Nope. It’s a beautifully marketed brand with a dreamy backstory, but the actual products just don’t live up to the hype. As a busy mom juggling three kids and zero spare minutes, I need skincare that’s quick, lightweight, and effective.
If you’ve got ultra-dry, fragrance-loving skin and enjoy ritualistic skincare routines, you might appreciate it. But for the rest of us chasing practicality and results, stick to the Amazon bestsellers.

glazed donut by noon lol !
I have ordered some but haven’t received it yet. They do have a 60 day money back guarantee if you dont think it worked for you. Did you contact the company?
I did. But the return policy wasn’t favorable for me. It’s just 14 days. I actually didn’t start using my order immediately I received them as I was testing another product. By the time I started using it, the return phase had elapsed.
They refused to grant me a refund. They base the 60-day policy on when the order is placed, not when you receive it. So, keep track of both. I didn’t have the date I received mine, so no refund was granted. This product is heavy, creamy, and made both my daughter’s and my skin worse. No positive results.
Apparently, the “results”: photos must be photoshopped. Those hundreds of extraordinary transformations can’t be real. Save your money.
I quickly read your bio as saying g I’m a delightful product reviewer. I thought oh! I like how positive she is about herself. Then it reread as dedicated. Either way, thanks for the honest review
I totally disagree! I was also a sceptic BUT It has changed my skin dramatically for the better. Maybe it really is, as the name suggests, for mature skins. I’m 60 and my skin loves this stuff. People are noticing and commenting on the difference! It’s phenomenal.
I’ll be 61 in a few weeks. I feel the same. My skin is eating this stuff up like ice cream. I have 4 dogs. I am constantly washing my hands. I have rough patches on them as a result. So I’ve dabbed a bit of the night balm on them. It made a huge difference!
I don’t find the scent lingers at all.
I totally agree, I’m 69 and loved the products
I didn’t notice a strong fragrance at all. I received many comments on my skin since using! I put mine on a little bit before going to bed a nd have not noticed a greasy pillowcase! I will purchase again.
I do appreciate your review, but if anyone is not going to at least try these products due to your review, seems a disservice to this company
1. Sleep deprived mother. Really? Not really a valid factor. All women, except maybe ones with a nanny, are sleep deprived
2. Combo skin: okay, i’ll give you that one, but it only applies to other people with combo skin. I personally have always had dry skin, so this product could be good for me, and I live in a tropical environment and I can still wear oil based products
3. F*ck Amazon. Really? Why not support a business and order it directly. Yes, you might have to pay a little extra, but why line the pockets of a billionaire by ordering from Bezos
4. Fragrance. Thank you for mentioning that, I am not big into products that are heavily fragranced. However, if they are naturally derived I find them more tolerable personally.
5. I’m not familiar with the Norse brand, I would like to check them out. I do like Mad Hippie, they do seem to have products that do not have ingredient lists that can’t be pronounced. I use a few of their products
6. Weleda makes great products. I have used several. So natural that if you don’t use them in a pretty short time frame, they will go bad
6. CeraVe – not good. Not natural
7. Oh! Definitely good to know that their return policy is only good for unopened/unused products. How the hell else is one to know if they don’t work??? Or perhaps have an allergic reaction. This would be a deal breaker for me
I suspect you are also sponsored by Amazon, as you’ve mentioned a couple of times.
There are other companies that are trying to compete with Amazon, such as Goodbuy. Check out their app
Amen. I don’t trust people who benefit from Amazon.
you don’t trust people who benefit from Amazon? like fr?
Hi, I am using Froya now for 4 weeks. I have had a completely different experience than the lady who wrote the blog article, and find it written a bit over the top, having babies means you might not have the same time as before, but most of us managed to put skin cream on. Don’t use that as a way to diss the products, as they are good for lots of other ladies.
I haven’t needed to spend ages warming the products, just hold them on your fingertips a few seconds for some warmth. If you need to Froya says to use them on slightly damp skin and they go on really well and as long as you don’t use loads, are not heavy and greasy. I also bought the rosacea and acne cream and this has been really good. It’s helped my redness so much. The eye balm made the most immediate, noticeable difference and my under eyes look much brighter and no puffiness . Beeswax, the main base of the balms is noncomedogenic, meaning it does not clog the pores of the skin. I have a beauty background and personally do not find the balms scent overpowering, but that is a matter of preference. With plant extracts and aromatherapy products you do go through a purge, meaning sometimes things get worse before they get better. Spots, breakouts happen as your skin detoxes and adjusts. I love them. The 60 day refund is stated on the website and the subscription info does say you need to have 2 qualifying orders before a refund is issued, if you’re not happy. You need to take selfies at 30 days and 60 days, but I thought I would just use them on my body if my face didn’t like them. I’ve used Elemis, No7 and other expensive brands and I don’t find these anymore expensive and much more effective
My fine lines are softer and I’ve had so many compliments on my skin since I started using them.
I’ve just had a year of recurring cancer and a massive operation, so wanted to overhaul my poor haggard face.
You don’t have to subscribe and If unsure I’d buy one product first.
I thought your article was perfectly accurate. I tried these products. I was born to a full blooded Norwegian mother and lived there for a short time in my 20s, and was definitely swept in. I sooo wanted to love these products. At age 52, with lifelong dry skin, I was hoping this would bring the balance, finally. Unfortunately, after a week, I suddenly had several areas of acne. I have gone my entire life with little to no acne. I did get hydrated skin, but I have used other products that did the same without the acne. I love the organic spin to this. But, unfortunately for me, it just did not hold up to what I think it should have provided at this price point and relative to other products.
I was interested in reading your comparison between Froya and Norse, but why compare two lines that target different skin types? Froya also has a system for acne, so you didn’t need to compare the system for mature skin to the Norse products. Of course there would be a huge difference, and especially on younger skin.
