Is the Grill Rescue worth buying? As a mom of three, married to a man who thinks every weekend is a cookout opportunity, you bet I’ve seen my fair share of greasy, charred grills.
So when I saw the Grill Rescue Brush online which is allegedly made by a firefighter, curiosity got the better of me.
So I placed an order directly on their Amazon store as I didn’t want to deal with the shipping hassles of grillrescue.com (their official website)

About the Grill Rescue Brush
The Grill Rescue Brush is a bristle-free grill cleaner designed to use steam to lift off gunk and grime from your grill grates. All you do is dip the heat-resistant cleaning head in water and run it across your hot grill surface. It’s made from heat-resistant, food-grade materials and features a replaceable cleaning head.
Price:
I snagged mine for around $43.95, which makes it the cheapest out of the three grill cleaning gadgets I’ve tried lately.
Competitors I’ve Tested:
- Grillbot Grill Cleaning Robot — over $130
- Horsepower Giddy Up Grill Brush — about $79.99
My experience using Grill Rescue
The day this brush arrived, my husband was already prepping chicken wings for the grill. Perfect timing. I dipped the Grill Rescue Brush in a bowl of water, waited for the grill to get hot, and gave it a go.
The steam it generated loosened all that stuck-on sauce and grease faster than I expected. No bristles, no worrying about wire bits breaking off. It left the grates clean and ready for a fresh batch of wings without the lingering taste of burnt leftovers from last week.
However, it’s not perfect. It looks cheaply constructed.
One, my brush head doesn’t like to stay connected. With even the slightest pressure, the head falls off. If I turn it upside down to use the scraper feature, the head falls off every time. Lots of people have this same issue.
Also, if you let your grill get outrageously filthy (you know who you are), the brush will struggle a bit. It does not clean grill grates as well as bristle brush. The sponge applicator gets gunked up and doesn’t clean well. When I tried it on my sister’s BBQ which is cast iron grates it did not clean at all. So it left me wondering maybe it works best on stainless steel.
Comparing It to Grillbot and Horsepower Giddy Up Brush
Grillbot was one of those “it sounded good in theory” purchases. A little robot that scrubs your grill for you while you kick back with a drink. In reality, it barely cleaned anything. It’s loud, slow, and only works decently on flat, not-too-dirty grates. And at over $100, it’s more of a novelty toy than a practical cleaner.
Horsepower Giddy Up Grill Brush is a different beast. It’s an electric, bristle-free grill brush that spins a cleaning head to scrub your grill grates. This one does an excellent job, especially if your grill is a war zone of burnt-on food bits. It’s fast, powerful, and charges quickly. The only downside? It’s not meant for use on a hot grill. You have to let your grill cool down first — which kinda kills the convenience for me since I prefer cleaning while it’s hot and the mess hasn’t turned into concrete.
