The website uses phrases like only a few units left and ships from USA or Canada to create urgency. At first glance it looks like a high quality heater and the discount pricing is positioned to make it a tempting deal.
But well, once you scratch beneath the surface, as I did, the truth about this product isn’t great as they want you to believe.
My experience with this portable heater
The Helion Heater is not what it claims to be. And I do not mean slightly disappointing. I mean fundamentally not as advertised.
The first thing you notice is the arrival time. Despite the website suggesting fast shipping, these types of heaters almost always ship from China or Hong Kong. Delivery usually takes two to three weeks. This is the pattern I have seen with similar trendy heaters sold under different brand names every winter and Helion follows the same pattern.
When it finally arrives, it becomes painfully obvious that the heater is nothing close to what the ads promise. It is extremely lightweight, the kind of device that reminds you instantly of those generic products you find on no name marketplaces. The build quality is not terrible, but definitely not premium.
But the biggest disappointment is the performance. This heater only warms the area directly around it. If you are sitting right in front of it, maybe your knees will feel warm after a few minutes.
