If there’s one thing I don’t have time for, it’s kitchen gadgets that don’t pull their weight. So when I spotted the InstaSeal Food Vacuum Sealer on Amazon, promising to be a food-preserving hero, I clicked “Add to Cart”.
Spoiler alert: it tested my patience more than a toddler meltdown.

About InstaSeal Vacuum Sealer
The InstaSeal is an upright food vacuum sealer meant to help you store meats, veggies, snacks, and even marinades, keeping food fresh longer and saving space in your fridge and freezer. It claims a one-touch operation and automatic sealing, with a starter pack of vacuum bags tossed in the box.
On paper? Sounds dreamy. In practice? Well… keep reading.
I grabbed mine on Amazon for $89.99, thinking I was getting a steal.
My Experience using InstaSeal Upright Food Vacuum Sealer
I was excited when it arrived. It was cute, compact, and didn’t hog counter space like my air fryer does. But I noticed there wasn’t a power cord and absolutely sealing envelopes or what ever they are called. No instruction Manual too.
I decided to test it out right away. I was able to get a couple or 4lb beef roasts sealed and small pie crust dough. However, when I tried to vacuum pack some single chicken breasts. Took forever and had to coax the bag through. It is very very difficult to use.
After I seal a bag and am done for the time being, sometimes it is as if the motor is still going and does not shut off, even if I press cancel/stop.
By the end of the week, it was back in the box faster than my kids can say, “I didn’t do it.”
Pros
Okay, in the spirit of fairness:
- Compact and lightweight
- Simple, one-button operation (when it works)
But trust me — those three little perks don’t make up for the chaos this thing causes.
Cons
- Not User friendly
- Quite expensive
- Not worth the price for what you get
Alternative:
After breaking up with the InstaSeal, I went on a desperate hunt for a better option and landed on the Hydroserenity Precision Vacuum Sealer — and let me tell you, THIS is what a mom’s kitchen deserves.

Why I love it:
- Strong suction that actually works — no air pockets, no “second tries”
- Handles moist foods like a champ
- Quiet enough to use during naptime
- Comes with a variety of bag sizes that fit real food
- User-friendly with simple buttons
- Same affordable price range, but feels way more premium
I’ve used it for everything from bulk-buy ground beef to prepped smoothie bags and even leftovers, and it hasn’t once overheated or made a mess.
Final Thoughts
If you were eyeing the InstaSeal Food Vacuum Sealer because do yourself a favor and run in the other direction. It’s one of those “looked good online” purchases that will make you question your life choices.
Skip the stress, skip the weak suction, skip the noisy meltdowns, and go straight for the Hydroserenity Precision Vacuum Sealer. Your sanity, your fridge, and your budget will thank you.
