Do you want to buy Uproot Clean Washing Machine Cleaner? this review is for you! Lots of mom swear by it in the mom’s forum I belong, and I decided to give it a try.

As a stay at home mom of three with two pets, my washing machine always seem to carry that lingering wet-dog smell, and sandy, gritty pieces ( pet hairs) collecting at the bottom after each wash cycle.

So I decided to put the Uproot Clean Washing Machine Cleaner Pro to test. I immediately ordered it off the brand’s Amazon storefront and it got delivered in 2 days (thanks to Prime membership)

About Uproot Clean

Uproot Clean is best known for their pet hair removers; the ones that have gone viral for pulling hair out of couches, rugs, and clothes. They’ve since expanded into other household products, including this Washing Machine Cleaner.

The cleaner comes in a pack of 20 pods, which immediately sets it apart from other brands that usually only include four packets. Price-wise, a box goes for about $19.99. It’s not the cheapest, but considering the number of pods you get, it lasts much longer than most options.

How to Use

Using this washing machine cleaner is really simple. You just take one pod, drop it directly into the drum of your washer (not the detergent tray), and run a full hot cycle. That’s it. No scrubbing, no wiping, no messy powders. For best results, the brand suggests doing this once a month as maintenance, or more often if your washer is older or used heavily—like mine is with three kids and pets.

My experience using Uproot Clean Washing Machine Cleaner Pro

When I say my washing machine is old, I mean it’s practically part of the family. It’s been there through newborn onesies, soccer uniforms caked in dirt, and countless towels from bath time.

The first time I used the Uproot Clean pod, I’ll admit I was excited. No powders to measure, no messy spills; just drop it in and let the machine run a hot cycle. When the cycle finished, I opened the door and peeked inside. The drum looked shiny and spotless, and to my surprise, the sandy grit was gone. That alone felt like a huge win.

But I noticed that while the inside looked squeaky clean, the smell was still hanging around. Not as strong as before, but enough that when I leaned in, there was a faint musty odor. It’s the kind of smell you don’t notice right away until your freshly washed towels come out not smelling quite as fresh as you’d like.

Here’s the thing though; my kids’ laundry piles up fast, and the dog loves to nap on blankets that end up in the wash every other day. So I’m not expecting miracles from a single cleaner. I really did appreciate how easy this product made the process.

So, did it change my laundry life forever? Not exactly. But did it make a noticeable difference? Yes. My washer looked better, the grit was gone, and even though the odor wasn’t completely eliminated, the smell was much lighter than before. It’s the kind of product that makes you feel like your washer is at least being maintained properly, even if it doesn’t solve every single issue.

Does It Work?

From my experience, Uproot Clean Washing Machine Cleaner works best in cleaning out buildup and making the washer look spotless. But for removing long-standing musty pet odors, it doesn’t completely get the job done.

Better Alternatives

Since Uproot Clean didn’t completely handle the smell in my machine, I went looking for other options that moms recommend on Amazon:

RENUV Heavy Duty Washing Machine Cleaner & Deodorizer. I’ve tried this and it beats Uproot Clean hands down. After 1 wash cycle I didn’t perceive any odor. Though it’s a bit pricier ($24), it’s Eco friendly, a bit larger than Uproot Clean, and leaves my washing machine with no single smell.

Another plus, is that it actually disinfects. It deep Cleans, deodorizes and descales your washing machine tub and all internal parts.

Note –  It might not work well with non-standard size washers. Someone complained that it completely overflowed their washer and started spurting foam out of the soap dispenser area.

Another washing machine cleaner I’ve heard mom swear by is the 7Pets Washing Machine Cleaner Tablets. They say it’s formulated for Pet Owners and it’s a Pet-Friendly Deep Descaler. Well, I’ve not given it a try as my Renuv washing machine cleaner serves me well. It’s the more affordable one ($17). Maybe you can give it a try and leave a review of it in the comment section?

Pros and Cons of Uproot Clean Washing Machine Cleaner

Pros

  • Easy to use pods
  • Washer looked visibly clean
  • No messy powders or measuring

Cons

  • Didn’t fully remove musty odors
  • Pet smell still lingered slightly

Final Thoughts

The Uproot Clean Washing Machine Cleaner is convenient, easy to use, and did a great job at clearing out residue and buildup in my old washer. The 20 pods make it a better value than many other cleaners I’ve tried. However, if your main issue is deep, lingering odors it may not fully solve the problem on its own.

If you want a simple, mess-free solution for keeping your washer looking clean, it’s worth a try. But if you’re dealing with stubborn smells like I was, you might want to keep one of the alternatives on hand for a stronger refresh.
