As someone who has dealt with stubborn nail fungus for quite a while, I was naturally curious when I began seeing endless ads about a device called Fungabeam. Both my husband and I suffer from nail fungus. Mine is mild, but his is much more severe, so we thought it would be the perfect way to test if this light really works for both cases.

Now, I’m not new to trying new gadgets, especially if they promise convenience. After seeing those ads over and over again, I finally decided to give it a try. I ordered directly from the official website, fungabeam.net, to avoid getting a dupe, and it cost me around $75. However, on Amazon.com, same device costs around $63.

About Fungabeam

Fungabeam is a portable laser light therapy device designed to treat nail fungus using what the company calls low-level laser therapy and dual wavelength light technology. The blue light is said to kill surface fungus while the infrared light penetrates deep under the nail bed to destroy the fungal colonies that topical creams can’t reach.

The brand claims it’s FDA cleared, safe, non-invasive, and painless. Each treatment session supposedly takes around 7 minutes per nail, and according to their website, users can expect visible results within 2 to 4 weeks.

It’s marketed as a modern solution for anyone who doesn’t want to rely on oral antifungal medications, which often come with side effects, or messy creams that don’t seem to penetrate the nail.

Our experience trying this nail fungus light

Since both my husband and I were dealing with nail fungus, we decided to test it together. My own infection was mild, with slight discoloration and thickening on two toenails. My husband’s case was much worse; thick yellow nails that looked damaged from years of infection.

We began using it every evening after our showers. It became a little part of our nightly routine, each of us sitting on the couch, holding the light over our nails while watching something on Netflix.

In the first week, there wasn’t much change. My nails looked the same, and my husband’s nails, unsurprisingly, didn’t budge either. But in the second week, I started noticing something interesting. The base of my affected nails began to look slightly clearer and pinker. The discolored area seemed to be growing out little by little. It wasn’t dramatic, but it was noticeable enough to make me believe that maybe, just maybe, the device was working.

For my husband though, there was no visible change at all. His nails remained thick, yellow, and stubbornly unchanged even after we passed the two-week mark. We continued using it diligently for over a month, but his nails never really improved.

Does Fungabeam really work for nail fungus?

After using it for several weeks, my honest answer would be yes, but with limits.

If you have a mild or early fungal infection, Fungabeam can help improve the appearance of your nails and possibly slow down the spread of the fungus. The technology seems to have some merit, and it’s easy and safe to use.

However, if your infection is severe or has been around for years, I doubt this little light will do much. My husband’s experience proved that point clearly. In such cases, oral or prescription topical antifungal treatments from a dermatologist are still the best option.

Another thing to note is that this device doesn’t magically “kill” the fungus overnight. The nail still has to grow out completely, which can take months, even if the fungus has been treated. So patience is key.

I also think some of the online ads make it sound like you’ll have brand new nails in a week, which is simply not true. It’s more of a gradual improvement rather than a fast fix.

Better Alternative

After our disappointing experience with Fungabeam, I decided to check on Amazon.com for the best recommended one.

I got the Neome Nail Fungus Pen which cost about $19. It was delivered in 2 days (thanks to Amazon Prime membership).

The pictures speak for themselves. This stuff truly works. My husband applies it right after shower and before going to bed. It dries very quickly and is super easy to use the with brush pen. Just be sure to continue using it until all the fungus has completely grown off. Two weeks later result;

Some people jumped the gun and had to start over. So at least, keep using it for a couple of months, this will keep it from spreading as your nail grows. He used a sponge type nail file and thinned his nail, as much as possible, to aid in absorption and apply under the nail now that it’s grown. His is almost healed. Almost.. here’s my 4 weeks result; Note – He is still applying it.

Pros and Cons of Fungabeam Laser Fungus Treatment

Pros

  • Easy to use and completely painless
  • Can be done at home while relaxing
  • No messy creams or harsh medications

Cons

  • Not very effective for severe or old infections
  • Results take weeks or months to become visible
  • Expensive compared to traditional topical treatments

Final Thoughts

Fungabeam nail fungus light is one of those products that sit somewhere in the middle; not a total scam, but also not the miracle it’s marketed to be. It has its place for mild fungal infections or as a complementary tool alongside medication, but it’s not a full replacement for medical treatment.

At $75, it’s not exactly cheap, especially considering that results can be slow and limited. But I do appreciate that it’s painless and easy to incorporate into a daily routine.

In the end, Fungabeam works, just not as much as advertised. It’s a gentle helper, not a cure-all miracle, and that’s exactly how it should be seen.
