Does Relaxium Sleep actually work? As a Stay at home mom of 3 with lots of chores, I sadly struggle with sleep. So when I saw an ad for Relaxium Sleep promising a “safe, effective, non-habit forming” way to fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer, I decided to give it a short.
Spoiler alert: It didn’t work for me.

About Relaxium Sleep
Relaxium Sleep is a natural sleep aid supposedly created by a clinical neurologist (Dr. Eric Ciliberti, in case you were wondering). It claims to:
- Regulate your sleep cycle
- Calm your racing mind
- Help you fall asleep faster and wake up feeling refreshed
The ingredient list looks solid at a glance — Melatonin, Magnesium, L-Theanine, Ashwagandha, GABA, Chamomile — basically a wellness Pinterest board in pill form.
Directions say to take 2 capsules 30-60 minutes before bed, but also mention you may need 4. That tiny little footnote should’ve raised a red flag.
My experience taking this natural sleep aid.
Week 1:
I followed the directions and took 2 capsules 60 minutes before bed. I turned off my phone (okay, after one last scroll through TikTok) and lay down hoping to finally get a decent night’s rest.
An hour passed. Nothing.
Two hours… still wide awake.
By the three-hour mark, I finally dozed off, only to be woken up at 2 AM by the baby and then at 4:30 AM by my son’s nightmare. I chalked it up to a rough night and decided to give it a fair shot.
The next couple of nights, same thing. No drowsiness, no calm, no magical sleep-inducing effect. Just me lying there, watching the clock tick closer to midnight while my brain reminded me of everything I forgot to do that day.
Week 2: Upping the Dose
The bottle mentions that up to 4 capsules may be needed. I wasn’t thrilled about doubling the dose, but at this point, what did I have to lose besides more sleep?
So I took 4 capsules two nights in a row. Did it work?
Nope. Still took me three hours to fall asleep. I’d wake up multiple times during the night, and still be wide awake at my usual 6:30 AM, dragging myself out of bed like a sleep-deprived zombie.
And here’s where things got really weird — I noticed that the capsules inside the bottle were starting to turn black. I kid you not.

I held them up to the light, did a double-take, and actually Googled “Is it normal for Relaxium Sleep capsules to turn black?”
Nothing reassuring came up.
At that point, I probably should’ve thrown them away, but the exhausted mom in me figured I was too far in to quit now.
Week 3:
By week three, I was taking 4 capsules every night, still falling asleep three hours later, still waking up just as often, and still feeling like garbage in the morning. The capsules looked even darker, like they’d been sitting in a swamp. And to top it off, I started to feel annoyed every time I saw the bottle on my nightstand.
It wasn’t helping me fall asleep faster.
It wasn’t helping me stay asleep.
And it definitely wasn’t leaving me feeling rested.
If anything, I was sleeping worse because now I was obsessing over why it wasn’t working and whether I should be worried about the weird color change.
By the end of the third week, I officially gave up.
Pros
Okay — to be fair:
- Didn’t upset my stomach
- Easy to swallow
- Ingredients look good on paper
Cons
- Did not help me fall asleep faster
- Didn’t improve how often I woke up
- Capsules turned black in the bottle — yikes
- Four capsules didn’t work either
Sleep Aids That Actually Helped Me
If you’re reading this in the middle of the night, swaddled in exhaustion, let me save you some trial and error. These are the natural sleep aids I’ve personally had better luck with on Amazon.com:
- Natrol Melatonin 5mg Fast Dissolve Tablets — gentle, no weird aftertaste, and usually knocks me out in 30 minutes.
- OLLY Sleep Gummies — taste like candy, work like a charm, and no grogginess.
- ZzzQuil Pure Zzzs Melatonin Gummies — reliable and helps me stay asleep through the chaos.
Final Thoughts
Relaxium Sleep talks a big game but totally flopped for me. Three weeks, four capsules a night, mystery-colored pills, and zero improvement in my sleep. If you’re a fellow mom, save your money and sanity — there are better options out there.
Because when you’re managing tiny humans all day and night, you need something that actually works. And this wasn’t it.
I’m so glad I found your site. Your reviews are so on point and some are the same as my experience with the product. Keep up the great work
