Do you want to buy Root Labs Ashwagandha Magnesium Gummies? here’s a honest review from a stay at home mom who bought and took a 30 days supply of this sleep gummies.

Like you, I had been seeing videos about these gummies everywhere, and some of the claims honestly got me excited.

“Two gummies and you’re out for the night.”

Now that I’m done with the ugly stage of weaning, I was hoping for full night sleep but I have been battling with insomnia for almost six months now. who had been lying awake at night. So I decided to give the product a try.

Here’s my brutally honest review of Root Labs Ashwagandha Magnesium Gummies after finishing a 30 days pack.

About Root Labs Ashwagandha Magnesium Gummies

Root Labs Liposomal Magnesium + Ashwagandha Gummies are marketed as a sleep supplement containing magnesium, KSM-66 ashwagandha and prebiotic inulin. The company says the formula is third-party tested and contains no added sugar or proprietary blend.

The product is positioned as a supplement for women who want help with sleep without relying on melatonin.

It’s sold on retail sites like Amazon, eBay, e.t.c, I personally bought mine from the brand’s Amazpn storefront.

Who is it not for?

According to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, people who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid ashwagandha, and it is not recommended for people with thyroid or autoimmune disorders or people who are about to have surgery.

It can also interact with certain medications, including medicines for diabetes and high blood pressure, immunosuppressants, sedatives, anti-seizure medications and thyroid hormone medications.

And because these gummies contain magnesium as well, people with kidney problems should speak with a healthcare professional before taking magnesium supplements. The kidneys normally remove excess magnesium, so impaired kidney function can increase the risk of magnesium building up in the body.

My experience taking this Ashwagandha Magnesium Gummies

First, I love that it’s well packaged, comes with an analytical report, and is in individual wrappings so the gummies can’t stick together. I took the recommended two gummies and I really like the taste and seed-like texture, though it might be too sweet for some.

However, taking them immediately before bed didn’t do much for me. When I started taking them about two hours before bed, I did notice that they made me a little sleepy. But I wouldn’t describe the effect as dramatic.

I still took at least an hour to fall asleep and still woke up throughout the night. Funny enough, I didn’t experience the “two gummies and you’re out for the night” effect I had seen in those videos.

After using them for more than a week, I started looking more closely at the product and noticed another thing that bothered me. It says you’ve to take it for 90 days to see results, this is quite different from what the ads online said

I’m not saying a supplement has to work after one night. I understand that some ingredients may take time and that everyone’s sleep is different. But if your marketing gives me the impression that two gummies are going to have me sleeping through the night, that’s the result I’m going to expect.

That aside, I had two nights where I found myself making repeated trips to the toilet. I can’t say with absolute certainty that the gummies were responsible, but the timing made me suspicious, especially after I started looking at the different forms of magnesium in the formula.

The product is marketed around magnesium glycinate, but the formula actually contains multiple forms of magnesium. Root Labs itself describes the product as using a 10-form magnesium salt.

So while I can’t prove that one particular magnesium form caused my digestive issues, I think it’s worth knowing that this isn’t simply a magnesium glycinate gummy.

And after all that, I still wasn’t sleeping particularly well. At that point, I decided I was done chasing the ashwagandha sleep gummies.

Better Alternatives

I’ve been taking Plant People WonderSleep Mushroom Gummies, which I bought on Amazon. It doesn’t contain ashwagandha or melatonin, which I read isn’t healthy for longterm use.

The formula uses reishi mushroom, GABA, saffron, passionflower, chamomile and corydalis. Plant People recommends two gummies around 30 minutes to an hour before bed.

And unlike my experience with the Root Labs gummies, I’ve actually noticed a difference in my sleep.

I’m not saying these gummies have magically fixed my insomnia, because they haven’t. but for me, they have been surprisingly helpful.

That’s what I find interesting about supplements. Sometimes the product you are most excited about because of the viral videos isn’t the one that ends up working best for you.

Do Root Labs Ashwagandha Magnesium Gummies Work?

They didn’t work well for me. I noticed some mild sleepiness when I took them earlier in the evening, but I continued taking a long time to fall asleep and continued waking during the night.

Pros

  • Pleasant taste
  • Easy to take
  • Contains KSM-66 ashwagandha
  • I noticed mild sleepiness when taking them earlier in the evening

Cons

  • Didn’t significantly improve my sleep
  • Diarhea

Side Effects

On Amazon, consumers have reported the following side effects from taking Root Labs Ashwagandha Magnesium Gummies;

  • severe anxiousness

Who Should Be Careful With Ashwagandha?

Ashwagandha is a plant ingredient, but “natural” doesn’t automatically mean suitable for everyone.

There have also been reports of liver injury associated with ashwagandha supplements, although this appears to be uncommon. Short-term safety is better understood than long-term safety, which is another reason I wouldn’t treat it like an everyday harmless gummy.

And because these gummies contain magnesium as well, people with kidney problems should speak with a healthcare professional before taking magnesium supplements. The kidneys normally remove excess magnesium, so impaired kidney function can increase the risk of magnesium building up in the body.

So if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a thyroid or autoimmune condition, have kidney problems, are preparing for surgery, or take regular medication, I would not start an ashwagandha magnesium supplement without checking with your doctor or pharmacist first.

Honest take

I bought Root Labs Ashwagandha Magnesium Gummies because I genuinely wanted help with my sleep. After trying them myself, I wouldn’t repurchase them.

They taste good and they did make me slightly sleepy when I took them earlier in the evening, but that wasn’t enough. I was still lying awake for a long time and still waking during the night.
