Does MosqiShock Mosquito Zapper really work? Every year, I get lured in by some “miracle mosquito zapper” promising to rid my yard of these tiny vampires. This time, it was a gadget called MosqiShock.

Spoiler alert: it didn’t go well.

Let’s talk about it.

About MosqiShock

MosqiShock sold on mosqishock.com is one of those mosquito zapper devices you’ll see advertised online with bold claims like “Kills 90% of mosquitoes in minutes!” and “Protect your family effortlessly!” It’s a rechargeable, portable bug zapper with an LED light that’s supposed to attract mosquitoes and zap them dead.

Sounds perfect for a busy mom, right? Less bug spray, more peace. Or so I thought.

Why I Bought It

Honestly, it was a mix of desperation and Facebook ads. The backyard was unbearable at night, and with a baby and two school-age kids, bug bites meant cranky moods, itching, and ruined bedtime routines. When MosqiShock popped up in my feed promising a mosquito-free home, I caved.

It looked like one of those viral products everyone was swearing by, and the price didn’t seem too bad — until shipping was tacked on. It took about three weeks to arrive from China. Not a great start.

My Experience using MosqiShock Mosquito Zapper

When it finally showed up, it looked exactly like the photos — a compact little lantern with purple LED lights. I charged it up, hung it in our backyard, and waited for the magic.

Nothing.

The mosquitoes were completely unbothered. I left it running for several nights, moving it around the yard, near the patio, by the kids’ play area — and still, the mosquitoes kept feasting on us.

It did zap a few tiny gnats and moth-looking bugs, but mosquitoes? Nope. They aren’t actually attracted to light like other insects — they’re drawn to body heat and carbon dioxide. I wish I’d known that before wasting money.

Later, I found the exact same zapper on Amazon for way cheaper under a different name. Lesson learned.

Pros

  • Zapped a few random bugs
  • Rechargeable and easy to move around

Cons

  • Took 3 weeks to arrive
  • Didn’t work great on mosquitoes
  • Misleading marketing claims

Alternative

After that disaster, I went searching on Amazon.com and found a solar mosquito zapper that actually works. It’s called Bug Zapper. Sold for $35.99 on Amazon.com and does a decent job.

I’m not one to hype a product, but this is a MUST HAVE if you deal with monsterous mosquitoes especially outdoor.

Another solid option? Thermacell Mosquito Repellent Patio Shield. It creates an odorless, invisible barrier that keeps mosquitoes away without sprays or zappers — and it’s safe around kids and pets. My mom got one for Mother’s Day and it has been serving her well.

Final Thoughts

MosqiShock was a complete letdown for me. If you’re a mom juggling kids, dinner, bedtime routines, and trying to squeeze in a peaceful evening, skip this one.
