Do you want to buy Dr Bernstein Herbal Shampoo? here’s a honest review from a stay at home mom who tested this product on her postpartum alopecia.
Like you, I kept seeing ads Facebook ads that says it works for hair loss. However, what convinced me was when I checked online and saw that Dr Bernstein is a top dermatologist known for hair restoration.
So, I decided to give it a try. The regular price on drmbernstein.com was $59 per bottle, but the website offered a buy more, pay less deal. I bought three bottles for $49 each, bringing my total to $147. Note – this shampoo is not available for sale elsewhere.

My experience using this Herbal Shampoo for hair growth
When my order arrived, I was a little surprised by the size of the bottles. They looked almost like pill bottles, and for something that costs $59 each at the regular price, I expected them to look a bit bigger. Each bottle contains 250 ml, though, so I estimated that one would last me around six weeks, considering I wash my hair two or three times a week.
The shampoo itself was actually quite nice to use. It is thick, so I didn’t need much, and it lathers reasonably well without producing too much foam. My favourite thing was the smell. It has that lovely herbal scent that makes you feel like you’re using something natural, rather than a shampoo with an overpowering chemical smell.
But the real test for me was whether it would help with my postpartum hair loss. By the third week, I started noticing little baby hairs around my hairline, and I also seemed to be losing less hair when washing and combing it. Naturally, I was pleased because those were the changes I had been hoping for when I placed my order.
Still, I don’t want to give the impression that this shampoo brought my hairline back. Postpartum shedding can improve on its own as your hair growth cycle returns to normal, so I cannot say whether the changes I noticed were because of the shampoo or simply part of my natural recovery.
My bigger disappointment was that the overall growth wasn’t as impressive as I had expected. Given Dr Bernstein’s background in hair restoration, I went into this purchase with high expectations, but after trying it, I wouldn’t say there is anything particularly special about the formula. It is a decent shampoo, and I enjoyed using it, but I expected more for the amount I spent.
Pros
- Nice fragrance
- Thick consistency
- Lathers reasonably well
Cons
- Poor results
- Only sold on drmbernstein.com
Is Dr Bernstein Herbal Shampoo Worth It?
I wouldn’t call the shampoo a scam just because I wasn’t blown away by the results. I received my order and enjoyed using the product, but I haven’t seen enough evidence to recommend it as a proven solution for hair loss.
I expected more because Dr Bernstein’s professional reputation was one of the main reasons I bought it in the first place. After trying it, I would describe it as a decent, slightly above-average shampoo rather than something special for hair growth.
If you simply want to try a botanical shampoo, you may enjoy it. But if you are buying it because you want your postpartum hairline back, I would manage my expectations and think carefully before spending that much money. For me, the hair growth claims need stronger evidence before I could confidently recommend it.
Alternatives
I’m currently using Nutrafol Supplements for postpartum and it really works. So the brand ‘Nutrafol’ makes hair growth supplements for different concerns. Men, Women, and Postpartum. The good thing is, the brand is on Amazon.com and you can see the reviews of other users there. Here’s my before an after result in less than one month.

Anyways, here’s my own review of the supplement, documenting my before and after results.
