So I had been seeing ads on Facebook showing how Qifor Headlight Restoration changed foggy headlights to completely brand new.So, I decided to see if it really worked.
I ordered the Qifor Headlight Restoration Kit from Amazon.com for $19, hoping it would save us the cost and stress of replacing or professionally restoring the headlight. Unfortunately, my experience did not turn out anything like the ads.

About Qifor Headlight Restoration Kit
The Qifor Headlight Restoration Kit is designed to remove yellowing and restore cloudy, dull headlights. According to the product description, the kit is supposed to help bring back the original colour and appearance of the headlamp while also adding a protective coating.
Inside my kit was:
- One 6.09 oz bottle of headlight yellowing removal solution
- One 0.34 oz bottle of headlight crystal plating or coating solution
- One towel
- One sponge
The kit claims to be simple to use and does not require power tools or any complicated equipment.
The instructions were straightforward enough. First, I applied the cleaning solution to the headlight and polished it using a cloth. Then, I sprayed the coating solution onto the sponge and wiped it evenly across the headlight in one direction before leaving it to dry naturally.
The whole process was easy, and I spent around 15 minutes polishing each headlight with a microfiber cloth. So, in terms of ease of use, I cannot really complain. You do not need any special skills or power tools.
The problem was the result.
My experience using this headlight restoration kit
The Qifor Headlight Restoration Kit did not work for me the way it appeared to work in the ads. The cleaner itself was not the biggest problem. There was actually plenty of it, and I can believe that the large bottle could be enough for several headlights. However, the coating solution was a completely different story.
The kit claims to contain enough product for multiple uses, but the tiny bottle of coating agent did not even seem like it would comfortably cover two headlights. This was disappointing because the coating is supposed to be the final step that gives the headlight that clear, restored finish.

To make matters worse, the sponge started breaking apart while I was working on the very first headlight. Bits of the sponge coming apart made the application even more frustrating.
And then there were the streaks. Instead of leaving behind the smooth, clear coating I was expecting, the Qifor kit left visible streaks on the headlight. I tried to apply the coating as evenly as possible and followed the instructions, but the final result still did not look clear or professionally restored.
Honestly, after spending time cleaning and polishing the headlights, I was disappointed to end up with a streaky finish that did not look anything like the dramatic before and after results shown in the ads.
Does Qifor Headlight Restoration Kit really work?
From my experience, the Qifor headlight restoration kit does not really work as advertised. It’s average at best and might only clean slightly foggy lenses. Meanwhile, the cleaner seems to soften the lens material causing it to scratch when applying the small bottle of polish/sealer.
Alternatives
I went back on Amazon and did a bit of digging for best reviewed headlight restoration kit. I found the 3M Headlight Lens Restoration System, 39008 and decided to try it on our family car after reading lots of great reviews on Amazon.
This is a great kit and the best value gong for headlight restoration. If you take your time and follow the instructions your headlights will look nearly brand new when you are done. As you can see from the image below, my headlight looks brand new.

Pros
- Easy and straightforward to use
- No power tools required
- Plenty of cleaning solution in the bottle
- The process only took around 15 minutes per headlight
Cons
- Did not restore my headlights like the ads suggested
- Very small amount of coating solution
- Not enough coating for more than one or possibly two headlights
- Sponge started breaking apart during use
- Left streaks instead of a clear, smooth finish
- The final result was disappointing for the price
Do I Recommend?
The Qifor Headlight Restoration Kit looked promising, especially if you are looking for a quick and easy way to deal with foggy or yellowing headlights without using power tools.
Sadly, just like the coating agent I tried a while back, it just did not work for me.
While I liked how simple the process was, the poor quality sponge, tiny amount of coating solution, and streaky finish made the whole experience disappointing. The ads made the transformation look almost effortless, but my own results were nowhere near as impressive.
Personally, I would not recommend it, and I would look for another headlight restoration method rather than buying this kit again.
