Does Stingray Spot Remover really work? There is something about seeing Oprah recommend a product that instantly makes you pause and think, “Okay… maybe this one is actually worth the hype.” That was exactly me the first time I saw Stingray Spot Remover being talked about on her daily show.
As a mom constantly battling mysterious stains that appear out of nowhere thanks to kids, snacks, spills, pets, and life in general, I was intrigued.Still, I have been burned too many times by influencer promoted cleaning products.
To be on the safe side, I ordered from the brand’s Amazon storefront (that way I’m certain of returns if it flops).
About Stingray Spot Remover
Stingray Spot Remover is marketed as a powerful stain removing solution designed to tackle household stains on fabrics, carpets, upholstery, and more. The advertisements make it look like the answer to every messy disaster imaginable. Coffee spills disappear. Wine vanishes. Food stains melt away in seconds. It is positioned as one of those all purpose cleaners you keep nearby for emergencies.
It comes in different sizes; 16Fl oz, 32 Fl oz, and even gallon size. It can be purchased on Amazon, ebay, and on the brand’s website ‘Stingrayclean.com’. Though I suggest buying it on Amazon.com (I’ve had high success with products sold there)
Stingray Review from a Mom with loads of household stains
When my order of Stingray finally arrived, my excitement dropped. When the bottles arrived the pump was about 1/4″ too long. I had to figure out how to cut off the appropriate amount so that the product would come out properly.

Still, once I got the sprayers sorted out, I decided to really put Stingray Spot Remover through the kind of testing that matters in an actual family home. And trust me, my house produces plenty of them. Stains usually involve a combination of food, grease, mystery substances from children, and sometimes pet related disasters that nobody discovers until several hours later.
One thing I noticed right away was that the product itself was fairly easy to use and thankfully did not have the overwhelmingly harsh chemical smell that many stain removers tend to have.
When it came to fresh everyday stains, I will admit that the product performed reasonably well. Fresh juice spills disappeared without much effort, small food stains from the kids lifted fairly quickly, and random dirt marks around the house became noticeably lighter after treatment.
I also used it on a fresh sauce spill near the dining area and was pleasantly surprised that it cleaned up without leaving behind any strange residue or discoloration. In situations involving newer stains that had not fully settled into fabric yet, Stingray Spot Remover definitely managed to hold its ground. For kids that love to play outside and play tons of sports, this has saved many outfits from being donated. (here are some before and after images)

The problem started once I moved beyond fresh everyday messes and began testing it on the kind of stains most parents are actually desperate to remove.
One of the first real tests involved an older spaghetti stain because if you have children, then you already know spaghetti sauce somehow becomes permanently bonded to fabric within minutes. I sprayed the area generously, followed the directions carefully, allowed the product enough time to sit, and gently scrubbed afterward hoping to see the dramatic transformation shown in advertisements. Unfortunately, the stain barely changed. It lightened slightly after repeated attempts, but it absolutely did not disappear the way the marketing makes you believe it will.
I experienced the same issue with old chocolate stains that had already survived previous wash cycles. Once again, the stain remover helped slightly, but nowhere near enough for me to call the results impressive.
Another major issue for me involved pet stains because any household cleaner advertised as powerful should realistically be able to handle pet related messes too. Between muddy paw prints, occasional accidents, lingering odors, and mystery spots that somehow appear overnight, pet owners need stain removers capable of doing far more than basic surface cleaning.
Sadly, Stingray Spot Remover completely underwhelmed me in this area.
I tested it on an older pet stain located near one corner of our carpet, and while the stain became slightly lighter afterward, it certainly did not disappear. More importantly, the odor remained noticeable afterward, which honestly defeats half the purpose of cleaning pet accidents in the first place. Anyone with pets already understands that removing the stain without removing the smell usually means the problem is only partially solved.
Pros
One thing I appreciated was that it did not damage fabrics during my testing. I used it carefully on different materials around the house and did not notice discoloration or fabric weakening afterward.
I also liked that the smell was manageable compared to some stain removers that practically fumigate the room.
And again, for fresh daily stains, it actually works fairly decently. If your child spills juice on a shirt and you catch it immediately, Stingray Spot Remover will probably help.
That is its strongest category.
Cons
The performance inconsistency frustrated me. Some stains disappeared quickly while others barely changed after multiple attempts.
And honestly, the biggest disappointment was the pet stain issue. If you market a stain remover as a heavy duty household solution, people naturally expect it to handle pet accidents too.
In my experience, it simply did not.
Better Alternative
I suggest trying the Abracadabra Dream Stain Cleaner. Ironically, last year, I bought it and was not exactly impressed. (Wrote a review then). But recently, they updated the formula and the newer version has honestly been performing much better.
It has been noticeably stronger on tougher stains, especially older food stains and pet related messes. Right now, I AM A BELIEVER OF THIS PRODUCT. My son created a mess on the ceiling of our car. I didn’t think I would ever get it cleaned because it had been stained for a while. I used this product and all I can say is WOW. (See before and after image)

Most importantly, it tackles odors better. That alone makes a huge difference in a home with kids and pets.

So if you are specifically searching for something capable of handling pet stains alongside regular family messes, I would personally lean toward the updated Abracadabra Dream Stain Remover instead.
Final Thoughts
At the end of the day, Stingray Spot Remover falls into that frustrating middle category for me. It is not terrible or magical. It works reasonably well for fresh everyday spills if you catch them quickly. But once you start dealing with older stains, grease, or pet messes, the limitations become obvious very fast.
I also think the celebrity endorsement and polished marketing raise expectations much higher than the actual product performance delivers.
Would I completely discourage people from trying it? No.
But would I personally repurchase it for my own home? Probably not.
As a busy mom juggling kids, pets, laundry mountains, snack disasters, and never ending household chaos, I need a stain remover that can go beyond surface level cleaning. I need something dependable when life gets messy for real.
And unfortunately, Stingray Spot Remover did not fully deliver on that promise for me.
