Is the Heusom pet nail grinder worth buying? If you’re a pet parent like me, then you know the struggle of nail trimming. My dog treats nail clippers like they’re torture devices, and every attempt usually ends in a wrestling match.
So, when I kept seeing flashy ads for the Heusom Silent Groom Pro, I thought—finally! A stress-free solution that would make life easier for both of us.
Spoiler alert: it didn’t exactly live up to the hype.

About the Heusom Silent Groom Pro
The Heusom Silent Groom Pro sold on heusom.com is advertised as a professional pet nail grinder that:
- Has a “silent” motor designed not to scare pets
- Files instead of clips (to prevent cracks or splits)
- Works for both dogs and cats
- Safe, ultra-quiet operation
At least, that’s the story the ads and website tell. But here’s the reality I discovered after actually using it.
My experience using this pet nail grinder
When the package finally arrived, the first red flag was that the grinder had no brand name or logo on it. It looked and felt like one of those generic products you’d find on AliExpress. Which, funny enough, I later discovered it actually was because after doing a little digging, I saw the exact same design listed on AliExpress for a fraction of the price.
The second red flag? The noise. My dog is usually skittish with new gadgets, but I had believed the “silent” claim from Heusom’s ads. The moment I turned it on, she jumped back. It definitely wasn’t silent.
After a few tries (and a lot of coaxing with treats), she eventually stood still long enough for me to trim her nails. But it took nearly hours to just do my Great Pyrenees’s dew claws. It has very little power and is useless for most dogs over 10 pounds.
I sent an email to help@heusom.com, sharing my experience and asking for a refund. Shockingly, the 60-day money-back guarantee is a fairy tale. I was told to seend videos to prove it isn’t silent.
Then offered 50 percent of my purchase price refunded to me and I get to keep the item. Or I can ship it back for a full refund. Shipped from California but you to to ship it back to……AUSTRALIA, shipping fee to be paid by ME.
Better Alternative
Here’s the thing: Heusom markets itself as if it’s a premium, one-of-a-kind product. But the reality? It’s a generic grinder that’s being resold across multiple platforms with wildly different prices.
Meanwhile, this pet nail grinder I bought on Amazon.com for $17 works far better. It has 7-speed settings, a 360° LED light for visibility, and works on both large dogs, medium dogs, small gogs, and even cats.

My dog tolerates it, and surprisingly, even my cat doesn’t mind when I file his claws. It comes with a charger and multiple ways to use. I definitely see the value for the price
How To Use a Pet Nail Grinder
Since pet nail grinders can be a little intimidating at first, here’s what worked for me:
- Get your pet comfortable first – Let them sniff and inspect the grinder before you even turn it on.
- Introduce the sound gradually – Switch it on away from their paws at first, so they can get used to the hum.
- Hold the paw firmly but gently – This keeps them steady without scaring them.
- Grind in short sessions – Instead of filing all nails at once, try doing one or two and then taking a break.
- Use rewards – Treats and praise go a long way in making nail care a positive experience.

- Overpriced compared to better options
- Untrustworthy company
Is Heusom.com Legit?
Heusom.com is technically a real website that ships out products, but based on my experience and what I’ve seen from other customers, its legitimacy is questionable. Many buyers report extremely slow shipping times, sometimes waiting weeks with little to no updates. The product itself often arrives looking generic, without any branding, which makes it feel like something sourced directly from a factory rather than a premium pet tool.
Customer support and return policies are another red flag. Several buyers including myself have complained about being offered only partial refunds or having to pay for return shipping—even when the item was defective. On top of that, the same exact grinder is listed on Amazon under different sellers for cheaper prices, and even found on AliExpress for far less.
So, while Heusom.com isn’t an outright scam (you do eventually receive something), the business practices don’t inspire much trust.
Final Thoughts
The Heusom Silent Groom Pro isn’t completely useless, it does trim dog nails safely. But the problem is that it works perfectly only for small dogs and cats. Also, it’s marketed as a premium, unique product when in reality, it’s a generic grinder being resold for inflated prices.
If you’re thinking about buying one, I’d say skip the ads and go for the Amazon alternative. It’s cheaper, better designed, and actually delivers on its promises. As a busy mom with pets, I’ve learned the hard way that not everything you see in ads is worth the splurge.
